Boat capsizes in Langkawi, eight injured


ALOR SETAR:  Eight tourists were injured when a tourist boat capsized during a parasailing activity in Langkawi on Sunday (Sept 28).

Langkawi deputy police chief, Supt Samsulmuddin Sulaiman, said they received information from the public about the capsized boat incident at Pantai Tengah around 1.15pm.

"The boat was carrying six tourists, three adult men, two women, and a boy, as well as two crew members. At the time of the incident, one of the tourists was parasailing but was safely brought down.

"The incident is believed to have occurred during strong winds, and all the victims were rescued by bystanders who were at the scene," he said in a statement on Sunday.

He added that based on preliminary information, no victims sustained serious injuries and all of them are being treated at Sultanah Maliha Hospital. - Bernama
