MACC rubbishes claims of Anwar’s offshore accounts

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) says allegations that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim holds 20 overseas bank accounts, including in Israel, were already investigated by its predecessor, the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA), in 1999.

“The probe found no evidence linking Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to any corruption or abuse of power offences at the time,” the MACC said in a statement yesterday in response to claims made in a recent viral TikTok video.
