Several areas in Klang Valley hit by flash floods

KUALA LUMPUR: Several areas in the Klang Valley were hit by flash floods after it rained continuously since noon on Friday (May 8).

Social media posts by users indicated that areas in Ampang and Sungai Besi in Kuala Lumpur were flooded, while in Selangor, Section 51, Jalan 223, areas in PJS 2, 4 and 6, Taman Medan, Sri Manja and Buana Perdana in Petaling Jaya were flooded.

Flash flooding was also reported in Section 7, Section 13 and the area behind UiTM Shah Alam, along with Bukit Raja and around Kapar in Klang.

Several areas in Gombak and Batu Caves were also flooded, and there have been reports of fallen trees as well.

The Malaysian Meteorlogical Department (MetMalaysia) issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds at 7.20pm that is expected to last till 10pm for Selangor, the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan, Kedah, Penang, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor, Sarawak and Sabah. — Bernama
