Johor named as one of five Nvidia Cloud Partners globally

JOHOR BARU: Johor has received significant recognition after being selected as one of only five Nvidia Cloud Partners worldwide, says Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi

The Johor Mentri Besar described this as a major recognition of the state’s growing role in digital transformation.

“The collaboration between global tech giant Nvidia and YTL Corporation in choosing Johor reflects international confidence in Johor’s digital ecosystem and our potential to become a regional leader in artificial intelligence (AI),” he said in a Facebook post on Wednesday (Sept 24).

Onn Hafiz added that the Johor–Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) framework would further enhance the state’s role as a strategic gateway for the regional digital and AI ecosystem.

He said the RM20.6bil YTL Power–Nvidia partnership announced in Kulai in December last year had already laid the foundation for Malaysia’s most advanced AI infrastructure.

“This collaboration is not only a milestone for Johor but also positions the state as the Asean AI Centre of Excellence.

The project will create the country’s first large language model, generate thousands of high-tech job opportunities and elevate Johor as a key driver of Asean’s technological shift,” he said.

He added that he remains optimistic the partnership will continue to grow, through the development of multilingual AI models, joint testbeds within the JS-SEZ, and nurturing AI talent pipelines to support digital economic growth across the region.
