KUALA LUMPUR: The Chartered Management Institute (CMI), the United Kingdom’s only chartered professional body for management and leadership, will host a major leadership event here next month.
The event, "Future-Ready Leadership: Inspire. Innovate. Transform," will be held on Oct 16 at the Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU).
The event will feature prominent leaders including CMI’s chief executive, Ann Francke and Ajay Sharma, the British High Commissioner to Malaysia.
They will be joined by influential figures from Malaysian industry, including IBM Malaysia managing director Dickson Woo and Pikom chairman Alex Liew.
The event underscores CMI's commitment to Malaysia and its mission to increase the number and standard of professionally qualified managers and leaders.
In a statement, CMI said this event marks a period of significant expansion in Malaysia.
“In the last three years alone, the number of Malaysian university partners has expanded from 10 to 19, the number of employer and training provider partners has grown from two to 21, and the total CMI membership has grown from approximately 2,200 to over 6,000,’’ it said.
The event will feature expert panel discussions on critical leadership topics such as “Leading with Emotional Agility in a Digital World” and “Purpose-Driven Strategy: Aligning Tech, Talent & Transformation”.
These sessions are designed to address how leaders can guide teams through technological disruption while building inclusive, purpose-led workplaces.
The UK Royal Chartered professional body was founded some 78 years ago, and its internationally recognised dual-accreditation model is fully regulated by Ofqual in the UK.
Qfqual is the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation. CMI's Ofqual-regulated programmes are recognised by Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
“We continue to have positive interactions with both the Higher Education Ministry and the MQA as we to develop our recognition even further,’’ CMI said.
CMI's is now serving a learner community of over 6,000, and is actively supported by a volunteer-led Regional Board that hosts networking and professional development events.
Former Higher Education Ministry director-general Prof Emeritus Datuk Seri Dr Mohamed Mustafa Ishak, who is also a former Universiti Utara Malaysia vice-chancellor, is CMI’s regional board's chair for Malaysia.
Established in the UK in 1947, the CMI is the only chartered professional body for management and leadership, and has a global community of over 230,000 members and partners with more than 900 educational institutions worldwide in 42 countries.
