Penang cops nab man for sexually harassing woman


GEORGE TOWN: Police have arrested a man in Bayan Lepas for alleged sexual harassment of a woman here on Friday (Sept 19).

Barat Daya police chief Asst Comm Sazalee Adam said the 32-year-old suspect was apprehended at 5.58pm on Friday in a restaurant in Bayan Lepas after the victim's employer lodged a police report.

"Investigations showed the man entered a business premises, which serves as a storeroom for an online children's toy business, and tried to coerce the victim into having sex," he said in a statement on Monday (Sept 22).

Sazalee said another female worker witnessed the incident, which was also caught on CCTV.

He said a video of the incident went viral on social media.

The case has been classified under Section 509 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955. – Bernama
