Number of border crossings doubled at Rantau Panjang ICQS over long weekend

PASIR MAS: The Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security Complex (ICQS) in Rantau Panjang here has recorded a total of 37,413 border movements from Sept 12 to 16.

Rantau Panjang Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) deputy commander Bakri Sulaiman, said out of the total, 16,704 were inbound movements, while 20,709 were outbound.

"On a typical day, the number of people entering and exiting Rantau Panjang ICQS is around 3,000 to 4,000.

"However, on Sept 13 (Saturday), we recorded 2,903 entries and 4,384 exits. The number of exits increased to 4,648 on Sept 14 (Sunday)," he told reporters here on Thursday (Sept 18).

He attributed the increase in movements at the ICQS to the school holidays and the Malaysia Day public holiday. – Bernama
