Fadhli and Sanusi tops in central committee contest


ALOR SETAR: Pasir Mas MP Ahmad Fadhli Shaari and Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor have secured top spots in the party’s central committee race for the 2025-2027 term.

Arau MP Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, a former Umno stalwart and Perlis Mentri Besar, also secured a spot in the central committee.

Ahmad Fadhli, who is also the party’s information chief, secured the highest number of votes at 1,096.

He was followed closely by Muhammad Sanusi with 1,062 votes.

Jitra assemblyman Dr Haim Hilman Abdullah clinched third place with 1,028 votes.

The results were announced by PAS election committee chairman Wan Rohimi Wan Daud during the party’s 71st Muktamar (national assembly) here yesterday.

According to Wan Rohimi, a total of 1,220 delegates cast their votes via e-voting.

Among the top 10 candidates who won were Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi, a son of party president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, who placed fourth place, Wan Rohimi said.

Also elected were Jerantut MP Khairil Nizam Khirudin, Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud, Kapar MP Dr Halimah Ali and Rantau Panjang MP Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff, Pengkalan Chepa MP Datuk Ahmad Marzuk Shaary, and Tumpat MP Datuk Mumtaz Md Nawi.

Other notable figures who secured seats on the central committee include Pendang MP Datuk Awang Hashim, Kuala Terengganu MP Datuk Ahmad Amzad Hashim as well as former Bachok MP Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz, who is the son of the late Kelantan Mentri Besar Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.

In a statement later, PAS announced that 11 party leaders including Perlis Mentri Besar Shukri Ramli, Perak opposition chief Razman Ramli and Tan Sri Annuar Musa, another former senior Umno leader, have been appointed to the committee.

At this year’s party election, the party’s top five positions – president, deputy president and three vice presidents, were won uncontested.

Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang returned unopposed as president and Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man retained his post as deputy president.

The three unopposed vice-presidents are Bagan Serai MP Datuk Idris Ahmad, Terengganu Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar and Kelantan Speaker Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah.
