MetMalaysia issues heavy rain, thunderstorm warning for five states and Labuan


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning for thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in several areas across Terengganu, Pahang, Johor, Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan until 7pm Monday (Sept 15).

In a statement, MetMalaysia said the severe weather is expected to affect Kuala Nerus, Hulu Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu and Marang in Terengganu; Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin in Pahang; as well as Segamat in Johor.

In Sabah, affected areas include the interior districts of Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Keningau and Tambunan; the west coast areas of Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu and Tuaran; Lahad Datu in the Tawau division; as well as Kinabatangan and Sandakan in the Sandakan division.

In Sarawak, the warning covers Kuching, Serian and Samarahan (Simunjan), along with Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei and Sibu (Kanowit and Selangau). It also includes Mukah (Tanjung Manis and Daro), Kapit (Song and Kapit), Bintulu (Tatau) and Limbang. — Bernama
