Langkawi fishermen rescue sea turtle trapped in net

LANGKAWI: A dramatic rescue unfolded off the coast of Langkawi when a sea turtle was found trapped in a fishing net.

The turtle was fortunate that a group of fisherman found it and helped the turtle to escape.

The incident was captured in a video which have since gone viral on social media.

In the 41-second video, the three fishermen can be seen working together to free the exhausted and trapped animal.

They pulled the trapped turtle onto the fishing boat, and arefully used a knife to cut the entangled fishing net.

The fishermen then helped the sea turtle escape by releasing it into the sea to let it swim away.

The video ends with cheers from the rescuers as the freed turtle disappears beneath the waves.

The rescued turtle is believed to be a Green Sea Turtle, one of the most common marine turtle species in Malaysian waters.

It can be recognised by its smooth, oval shell with olive-brown tones and its relatively small, rounded head.
