KOTA KINABALU: Uploading any exhibits or documents regarding the ongoing Zara Qairina Mahathir inquest could lead to legal action against the culprits, the Coroner's Court here has warned.
Coroner Amir Shah Amir Hassan said uploading exhibits ahead of proceedings could amount to contempt of court.
His warning on Monday (Sept 8) came after some exhibits in the inquest, believed to be handwritten notes by the late Zara Qairina, were shared on social media recently.
He said people should be careful with the exhibits in their possession and be responsible enough not to share these documents.
Amir Shah also suggested that the authorities try to take action, while acknowledging that it may not be possible to stop every incident.
The inquest started at around 9.30am today, with document examiner Nurul Atiqah Mohd Noh called to testify.
The court took a short break at 11am to allow some documentation work to be conducted.
The inquest is expected to resume at 2pm.
In her testimony, Nurul told the court that the Malaysian Chemistry Department in Petaling Jaya had received a total of 21 plastic bags containing papers and books, including Zara’s diary, her schoolbooks and notebooks.
Nurul has over 21 years' experience in receiving and preparing chemist's reports as well as inspecting disputed documents involving signatures, handwriting, typed words, printed papers and inked materials, among other things.
