Man found dead in drain near electric substation, believed to have been electrocuted


ALOR GAJAH: A man, believed to be a Myanmar national, was found dead in a drain near an electric substation in Jalan Padang Keladi, Durian Tunggal, here on Monday (Sept 8).

The Melaka Fire and Rescue Department said the man was believed to have been electrocuted.

"The Fire Department received an emergency call at 2.29pm and dispatched a fire engine with nine firemen from the Ayer Keroh Fire and Rescue Station to the location.

"Upon arrival, rescue personnel found the body of a man in the drain. TNB personnel cut off the power supply at the substation before the victim was removed," the statement said.

The Fire Department said Health Ministry personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Acting Alor Gajah OCPD Dept Supt Azrul Mohamed said police were working to gather more information on the incident, including identifying the victim. – Bernama
