PETALING JAYA: Malaysia has secured some RM450mil in potential investments following a recent visit to the Netherlands, says the Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti).
It said in a statement that the investments from the visit on Friday (Sept 5) were in the electrical and electronics as well as machinery sectors.
“This reflects Malaysia’s position as a preferred investment destination for European technology leaders.
“The potential investments are expected to boost Malaysia’s high-technology manufacturing base, create skilled jobs, and enhance research and development collaborations in semiconductor technologies, renewable energy and Industry 4.0 applications,” it said.
The statement added that during the visit, Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz also met with the Brabant Regional Development Cooperation, East Netherlands Development Agency and Brainport Industries, key drivers of the Netherlands’ semiconductor development agenda.

“Those engagements were aimed at enhancing industrial partnerships and supply chain resilience, to create mutually beneficial opportunities in high-value technology sectors.
“During the sessions, the minister reiterated Malaysia’s reliability as a hub in South-East Asia for European companies’ supply chains in semiconductors, electronics, precision engineering, automation and related sectors,” it said.
The statement noted that last year, the Netherlands was Malaysia’s largest export destination in the European Union (EU) and its second-largest trading partner within the EU, with total trade reaching RM41.26bil.
“This strong momentum has continued in 2025, with bilateral trade from January to July rising 15.9% to RM25.76bil (US$5.92bil).
“The Netherlands is also the fourth largest investor in Malaysia, with 314 manufacturing projects worth RM103.8bil implemented as of June, creating 55,053 job opportunities in the country,” it added.
The visit also featured the signing of a landmark Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) on the semiconductor industry by Zafrul and Dutch Economic Affairs Minister Vincent Karremans in The Hague.
Zafrul said the mission reinforced the longstanding economic relations between Malaysia and the Netherlands.
“By aligning with our Dutch strategic partners and attracting RM450mil in potential investments, we are effectively accelerating the realisation of our efforts under the National Semiconductor Strategy.
“It will also bring us closer to our target of RM500bil in high-value semiconductor and electrical and electronics investments by 2030.
“The MoC also supports our overarching objective to position Malaysia as a key hub in the global semiconductor supply chain,” he said.
