Three killed as 4WD vehicle crashes near Serian


SERIAN: Three people have been killed and four others injured after a four-wheel-drive vehicle crashed at Engsebang Quarry, Balai Ringin, at KM 219.5 of the Pan-Borneo Highway on Friday (Aug 5).

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department said it received a call about the incident at 11.54am and a team from the Serian fire station arrived at the scene at 12.34pm.

It added that victims had been removed from the vehicle by the public before firemen arrived.

The victims, Paula Janting, 43, and Janting Pangau, 75, died at the scene, while Senin Beriak, 65, succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment in a hospital.

Those who survived with injuries were Anthonio Janting, 29; Harold Steven, 17; Heyna Phylis, 14; and Hyenei Phebe.
