Over 2,000 take part in Maulidur Rasul celebration in Penang

BUTTERWORTH: More than 2,000 people took part in Penang's state-level Maulidur Rasul celebration in Seberang Jaya on Friday (Sept 5).

The programme began with a 2km walk with over 1,000 participants from 30 federal and state government departments.

The procession started at 8.30am from the Customs complex in Seberang Jaya and proceeded to the Wisma Al-Ansar hall at Masjid Al-Muhajirin.

Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Dr Mohamed Abdul Hamid, who was joined by state executive councillors, assemblymen and senior government officials, flagged off the walk.

The event was graced by Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Ramli Ngah Talib, who arrived at Wisma Al-Ansar at about 9.30am.

After the procession, the gathering continued with a reception at the hall, bringing together participants, government leaders and members of the public in marking the occasion.
