Cops tracking foreigner involved in hit-and-run crash in Kuchai Lama


KUALA LUMPUR: The police are tracking down a 29-year-old foreign man following an accident in Kuchai Lama.

An 18-second viral video of the incident shows a motorcycle rider running away after he was believed to have crashed into a sedan.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) chief Asst Comm Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa confirmed receiving a report of the road mishap, lodged by a 31-year-old local man at about 2.20am on Saturday (Aug 30).

"The incident actually occurred at about 11.30pm on Aug 29 at a traffic light along Jalan Kuchai Lama.

"A motorcycle rider had allegedly crashed into the front of the complainant's car," he said in a statement on Monday (Sept 1).

Checks by traffic police revealed that the motorcycle involved in the accident was registered to a 29-year-old foreign man.

"So far, the foreign man has not lodged any police report.

"We are in the process of tracking him down. The case is classified under Section 43 of the Road Transport Act 1987," he added,
