13 Lahad Datu college students sentenced to prison for murder


The 13 Lahad Datu school vocational school students after being sentenced for murder by the Tawau High Court Thursday (Aug 28).

KOTA KINABALU: The High Court sentenced a former Lahad Datu Vocational College student, aged 19, to life imprisonment and 12 strokes of the cane after being found guilty of murdering Mohamad Nazmie Aizzat Mohd Narul Azwan, 17, in March last year.

The other 12 students, all juveniles, who were also convicted, were sentenced to be jailed at the pleasure of the Yang DiPertua Negeri until they are pardoned.

Tawau High Court judge Datuk Duncan Sikodol delivered the sentences on Thursday (Aug 28).

On Aug 22, Justice Sikodol found all 13 accused guilty of murdering their hostel mate Mohamad Nazmie Aizzat between 9pm on March 21 and 7.38am on March 22 last year.

On March 22, 2024, the victim was found unconscious on the floor of a dormitory in the college at about 6.50am.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical team.
