KOTA KINABALU: Sabah's 40% net revenue claim will be a major issue in the upcoming state election if it is not resolved in some form by then, says Sabah STAR president Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan.
The Deputy Chief Minister, I said that with the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) action council meeting scheduled to be held in Kuala Lumpur on Sept 12, he hoped to hear some good news.

“Hopefully, it will be positive... something must happen. Otherwise, it will be a big issue in the election,” he said after chairing a Forum Perdana session on Sabah Day here on Wednesday (Aug 27).
Kitingan said it was disappointing that the meeting was not held earlier, on June 30 as initially proposed.
“I can’t say I was not disappointed, but I’m still hopeful that there will be a decision on Sept 12,” he said.

He said a proposal on the calculation of the 40% revenue share has been handed to the Federal Government, but there has yet to be any response.
“We have not heard anything (yet), yes or no...” he added.
He said the decision on the amount would be made by the high-level committee chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
On July 14, Kitingan had suggested that 40% of federal revenue be allocated for non-disputed items as a temporary measure.
