BATU PAHAT: A fire destroyed 10 semi-wooden shop houses in Jalan Semerah, Pekan Semerah near here.
The Johor Fire and Rescue Department received the emergency call on Wednesday (Aug 20) at 7.02pm.
“Sixty-three firemen from four fire stations in the Batu Pahat district are involved in the operation,’’ the Batu Pahat Fire and Rescue Department chief Ayub Majid said in a statement.
He said the stations were Batu Pahat, Penggaram, Ayer Hitam and Yong Peng.
Ayub said two light fire rapid tender vehicles, a fire rapid tender vehicle, two emergency medical response service vehicles and three 4WD pick-up trucks were used in the operation.
“We were also assisted by volunteer firefighters from Parit Yusof and Air Hitam,’’ he said.
Ayub said the operation added that the team managed to prevent the fire from spreading to the nearby three shop houses.
The operation was led by Ayub and senior officer Saprianto Junaidi.
