Trader remanded for allegedly molesting teenage niece


MELAKA: A 50-year-old trader has been remanded for three days after being detained on suspicion of molesting his teenage niece.

The remand order was issued by Magistrate Sharda Shienha Mohd Suleimen on Tuesday (Aug 19) to assist investigations under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.

According to a source, the incident occurred at about 2.30pm on Aug 12 at a house in Solok Paya Mengkuang, Bukit Rambai, here.

The 16-year-old victim was reportedly lying on a sofa in the living room with a pillow across her chest as she was feeling unwell.

The suspect is alleged to have lifted the pillow and molested her before returning to his room.

The victim then told her father, and they lodged a report at the Batang Tiga police station.

The suspect was detained on Monday (Aug 18).
