Woman who ran amok with knife suffers from high stress, say Kajang cops

KAJANG: The foreign woman who attacked bystanders with a knife after hitting three motorcycles was dealing with a high amount of stress when the incident occurred.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Naazron Abdul Yusof said the 24-year-old suspect was upset with her experience of studying at a public university here, leading to her feeling pressured and stressed.

"There is no record of her taking any medication or suffering from depression.

"We are still investigating further to learn why she acted in such a manner," he said on Thursday (Aug 14), adding the suspect has been remanded until Aug 20.

"We have recorded the statements of 11 individuals, including the victims.

"Two victims are in stable condition and still warded," he said.

It was previously reported that a woman who attacked bystanders with a knife had been arrested.

ACP Naazron had said that the police were notified of the incident at 11.58am on Wednesday (Aug 13) after the suspect had crashed into three motorcycles vehicles near a shopping mall in Bandar Kajang.

He said the suspect got out of her car and attacked several people with a knife before bystanders restrained her.

Two knives were found in her possession and she was handed over to the police.

Six people aged from 21 to 60 were injured in the attack.
