Investigation into attack on Rafizi's son will be conducted without fear or favour, says Home Ministry

PETALING JAYA: The attack on Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli's son is viewed seriously, and the police have been mobilised to conduct a full investigation into the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice, says the Home Ministry

"I have contacted and spoken to Rafizi following knowledge of this incident. I have also expressed my sympathies to him and his family over this attack on his child in Putrajaya.

“I pray that he recovers quickly and that the family remains strong in facing this hard time," said Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

Saifuddin added that investigations would be conducted fairly and based on the law, with no influence from any party regardless of status and background.

Rafizi’s son was jabbed with a syringe by an unidentified assailant in a Putrajaya shopping centre car park on Wednesday afternoon (Aug 13).

“At about 1.45pm today, as my wife and son were getting into their car to leave a shopping centre in Putrajaya, a man suddenly grabbed my son and jabbed him with a syringe,” said the former economy minister in a statement.

Checks revealed that two men on a motorcycle had been following his wife’s car, and the assault was believed to be premeditated.
