Motorcyclist killed, brother seriously hurt in accident on AMJ Highway

MELAKA: Two brothers' late-night trip to Johor ended in tragedy when their motorcycles hit a fallen tree branch lying across the Alor Gajah-Melaka Tengah-Jasin (AMJ) Highway near Kandang here.

The elder brother, 33-year-old Muhammad Fauzy Borhan, died on the spot in the 1am Tuesday (Aug 12) incident, said Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit.

He said the younger brother, Muhammad Naim Borhan, 30, suffered serious head injuries and is in critical condition at Hospital Melaka.

ACP Christopher Patit said the brothers had been travelling from Tampin to Muar, Johor.

He said the deceased was self-employed and lived on Jalan Sungai Abong Darat in Muar, while his younger brother, also self-employed, lives in Telok Mas here.

"The force of the collision threw them from their machines, killing the elder brother instantly,” he said, adding that it was raining at the time of the incident.
