Leaking Sandakan Airport to be repaired within a week, says Kiandee

KOTA KINABALU: The leaking Sandakan Airport is expected to be repaired within the week, according to Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee.

The Beluran MP, who highlighted the issue earlier on Monday morning, provided an update about five hours after his online complaint gained attention.

"Thanks. Action taken after five hours of being criticised," he wrote, emphasising that the problem can indeed be resolved.

He shared a response from Malaysia Airports, indicating that repair works for the leakage at Sandakan Airport would commence on Tuesday and are expected to be completed within the week.

The response also mentioned that inspections are being conducted in other areas of the airport to identify any potential rainwater leakages.

If additional leaks are discovered, they aim to have them repaired by the end of the month.

Earlier, Kiandee noted that the ceiling leak at Sandakan Airport had been temporarily managed by placing pails to catch the water, often resulting in water spilling onto the floor. He mentioned that this issue has persisted for about a year.
