Man drowns in Manjoi mining pond

IPOH: A 43-year-old man drowned in a mining pond near Kampung Dato Ahmad Said 3 in Manjoi on Friday (Aug 8) night.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the Meru Raya Fire and Rescue Station launched a search operation with the assistance of 12 police personnel.

“At 7.26am on Saturday (Aug 9), the victim was found floating about 5m from the bank during surface search operations using a boat,” he said.

He added that firemen retrieved the body with a stretcher before handing it to the police for further action.
