Labuan man held for hurting wife and son in domestic dispute

KOTA KINABALU: A man has been arrested for allegedly injuring his wife and son during a domestic argument in Labuan.

The 34-year-old was said to have been arguing with his wife, 38, when he turned aggressive and beat her with a liquor bottle at 1.25am on Thursday (Aug 7).

He was also believed to have hit his 10-year-old son, resulting in the boy getting hurt.

Labuan deputy OCPD Deputy Supt Robin Ridzuan Ismail said the woman sustained injuries on her nose, mouth and the back of her head, while the boy has a gash on his left cheek.

“Both victims were taken to Hospital Labuan for treatment after a distress call was made,” he said in a statement on Friday (Aug 8).

He said the man was nabbed at 8pm the same day, and has been remanded until Wednesday (Aug 13) to facilitate investigations for causing hurt.

DSP Robin said that if convicted, the man faces up to 20 years in jail with a fine or caning.
