Housewife charged with murdering seven-month-old adopted daughter


KUALA LUMPUR: A housewife has been charged at a Magistrate's Court here over the death of her seven-month old adopted daughter.

Siti Subrina Imran, 37, who was accused of murder, nodded her head to signal that she understood the charge after it was read out before Magistrate Noorelynna Hanim Abd Halim here on Thursday (Aug 7).

No plea was recorded as a murder case is under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

According to the charge sheet, Siti Subrina allegedly murdered the baby at a condominium in Jalan Sri Permaisuri near here at 7am on July 30.

The charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code is punishable by death or a maximum imprisonment of 40 years and 12 strokes of the rotan, if convicted.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Iman Nurhidayah Ezani prosecuted while Siti Subrina was unrepresented during the proceedings.

The court fixed Oct 13 for mention.

It was reported in the news that the seven-month-old baby girl died after she was found unconscious in the living room of a condominium unit in Bandar Sri Permaisuri, Cheras, on July 31.

Kuala Lumpur acting police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad confirmed that police received an emergency call from a man claiming that his adopted daughter had been found unconscious at their home for unknown reasons.

He added that upon arrival at the residence, police found the infant lying in the living room, with visible bruising and bluish skin.
