Water storage at three dams operated by Mada higher than 2025's level

ALOR SETAR: The current water storage level of the three dams operated by the Muda Agricultural Development Authority (Mada) in this state is higher than last year, as of Tuesday (Aug 5).

In a statement on Wednesday (Aug 6), Mada announced that the current water storage levels at the Pedu Dam, Muda Dam, and Ahning Dam are 53.34%, 33.84%, and 58.58%, respectively.

"Based on the projection, the Pedu Dam's storage will reach 62 percent by the end of September 2025.

"This projection also shows that the current storage in the Pedu Dam is still able to meet the irrigation supply needed for the successful planting of paddy for the 2025 Season 1, as well as domestic and industrial needs," it said.

According to Mada, water is currently being released from the dams at a rate of 3,500 cubic feet per second to meet the paddy cultivation, domestic, and industrial needs in Kedah and the southern part of Perlis.

Additionally, Mada reported that as of July 29, paddy cultivation activities in the Muda Area have reached 99,832 hectares, or 99.2 percent planted, and 6,906 hectares (6.9 percent) of that have already flowered. - Bernama
