KOTA KINABALU: The close working rapport between Sabah and Indonesia has made a positive impact in various bilateral exchanges, affirms the outgoing Consul of the Republic of Indonesia (KRI) in Tawau.

Aris Heru Utomo, who began his duties here in Sabah on May 16, 2024, said that the good relationship between the state and Indonesia had strengthened ties too.

He said the areas of interest which had been moving in positive directions included social, cultural, tourism and border security aspects.

He said social and cultural relations between Indonesians and Sabahans, especially in Tawau, were cordial, contributing to the increase in tourism arrivals.

“I thank the support and assistance rendered in strengthening ties between both nations, including the state government’s initiative to protect Indonesians working here in Sabah,” Aris said.

He said this after paying a courtesy visit to Sabah's Head of State, Tun Musa Aman, during which Aris informed Musa of the end of his tenure.

He will be relocated back to his home country soon.
