Man jailed five years for threatening father with parang


KOTA KINABALU: A man has been jailed five years after pleading guilty to threatening his father with a parang in the Lahad Datu district.

The accused, Azizan Azman Lee, pleaded guilty to the charge for criminal intimidation under Section 506 of the Penal Code, read before Lahad Datu Magistrate Nur Asyraf Zolhani on Wednesday (Aug 6).

Based on the facts of the case, Azizan ran amok while wielding a machete at his father's house at around 6.15pm on July 30 after getting a scolding.

The victim's grandchild also witnessed the incident.

Azizan, who is unemployed, had been arrested for a similar offence before and tested positive for methamphetamine when he was arrested.

It is learnt that the accused got upset when he learned the guitar his father bought him had been lent to a nephew studying music.
