11 foreign nationals refused entry at Bukit Kayu Hitam ICQS Complex

KUALA LUMPUR: Eleven foreign nationals were issued with Notices of Refusal of Entry (NPM) at the Bukit Kayu Hitam Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex on Tuesday (Aug 5).

The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) said those denied entry were nine men and two women from Bangladesh, Thailand, India and Sri Lanka.

“Under the current Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), all individuals were instructed to return to their countries of origin immediately via the same entry point,” the agency said in a statement on Wednesday (Aug 6).

The AKPS reiterated that it views any attempt to enter Malaysia without adhering to immigration laws seriously and it will not compromise with any party seeking to exploit the country's immigration facilities.

"We are committed to safeguarding the nation's sovereignty and border security against any form of threat.

"We will also continue to tighten control and inspections at all entry points to ensure that only genuine foreign visitors who meet entry requirements are allowed into Malaysia," the agency added.
