Suspected snatch thief arrested after failed robbery attempt in Shah Alam

SHAH ALAM: A 30-year-old suspected snatch thief was detained following a failed attempt to rob another man at Seria Alam.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the suspect committed the offence at about 7.07pm on Sunday (Aug 3).

"The victim fought back, causing the suspect to fall from his motorcycle.

"He then attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by members of the public," he said in a statement on Monday (Aug 4).

The suspect was then handed over to the police, he added.

"We seized the motorcycle, which had fake number plates, along with a set of keys and the clothing worn by the suspect.

"The suspect is also involved in two other prior snatch thefts," he said.

The suspect has been remanded until Aug 7, he said.

"We urge pedestrians to be extra vigilant to avoid being a victim of snatch theft," he said.
