Melaka all set to host World Tourism Day

ALOR GAJAH: Melaka is ready to open its doors in the World Tourism Day (WTD) 2025 celebrations next month.

State tourism, heritage, arts and culture committee chairman Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman said the programme’s content, selection of the main venue and invitations to international delegates are being finalised.

Tourism ministers from many countries and members of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation are expected to attend the event here from Sept 27 to 29.

“We are in the final stages of preparation. Everything is going smoothly,” he told reporters after officiating the Wakil Rakyat Untuk Rakyat programme for the Rembia state constituency here yesterday, Bernama reported.

Also present was constituency coordinator and state science, technology, innovation and digital communications committee chairman Datuk Fairul Nizam Roslan.

Abdul Razak said the main venues for the WTD 2025 events have been finalised.

The World Tourism Conference will be held at a hotel in Melaka Raya, while the WTD 2025 Gala Dinner and launch of Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) will take place at a multi-purpose performance centre in Kota Syahbandar.

He said the centre will also showcase cultural and artistic performances in welcoming invited guests and the public.

“The venue is ideal for the WTD 2025 finale and VM2026 launch as it will highlight Melaka’s unique appeal and strategic location along the Strait of Malacca to international delegates,” he said.
