Sombre mood as relatives, friends arrive for Tishant's funeral

JOHOR BARU: A sombre mood enveloped the family home of A. Tishant, the six-year-old boy who was allegedly strangled to death and buried in Negri Sembilan several days ago.

Family members and close friends began arriving at the residence early in the morning to pay their last respects to the child and offer support to the grieving family.

The religious rites began at about 8am, with the body scheduled to be taken to the Hindu crematorium at Jalan Kebun Teh here later in the morning for the final rites.

Some mourners were seen carrying flower garlands to place alongside Tishant in a gesture of farewell.

The hearse carrying the child’s remains left the family home at 10.42am for the crematorium.

Tishant was reported missing on July 24 from Taman Bukit Indah, Iskandar Puteri. Four days later, police discovered his body buried in a remote area in Rompin, Jempol.

The boy’s father, 36, was arrested to assist in the investigation.

Negri Sembilan police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof said the cause of death was pressure to the neck, believed to have been caused by a cable tie.

Initial investigations suggest that the suspect, who is currently separated from his wife, was facing marital problems at the time of the incident.
