Gunman fires shot outside clinic in attempted robbery


JOHOR BARU: A helmet-wearing motorcyclist fired a shot during a robbery attempt at a clinic in Seri Alam.

Seri Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said the incident happened at about 7.10pm on Saturday in Taman Megah Ria.

“The suspect entered the clinic and pointed an object believed to be a pistol at a person in the clinic while demanding cash,” he said.

“The man fired a shot outside the clinic before escaping on a motorcycle.

“There were no patients in the clinic during the robbery attempt.

“Only the doctor, her husband and their children were there.”

The robbery failed and police are looking for the suspect.

The case is being investigated under Section 3 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971 for discharging a firearm during an attempted robbery.

In a 31-second viral video, the suspect is seen falling before getting up and fleeing the scene on a motorcycle while holding a pistol-like object.
