KOTA KINABALU: The construction of Malaysian Armed Forces personnel housing in Tawau is progressing according to schedule, says the Works Ministry.
The project is at 14% physical completion and expected to be ready by Oct 31 next year, it said in a statement on Thursday (July 17).
Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan visited the construction site during his working visit to Tawau recently.
He was briefed on the progress of the RM97mil project, which commenced on May 2, 2023.
Once completed, the housing project at the Kabota Camp would include nine blocks of Class G flats, Classes C1, E and F flats, bungalows and semi-detached units, kindergartens and pre-schools, multipurpose courts, a playground and a new water tank tower.
The ministry said the project aims to provide Armed Forces personnel and their families with a more comfortable and conducive living environment to boost their spirits and motivate them to serve with commitment.
The ministry added that it serves as the implementing agent for the project, with monitoring by the Special Projects 2 Team under the Public Works Department.
The scope of monitoring includes the project's progress, cost and adherence to specifications, it said.
