Senior citizen found dead in locked home in Penang

GEORGE TOWN: A senior citizen was discovered dead, locked inside his home at Hong Seng Estate on Tuesday night (July 15).

The State Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the department received a request for assistance from the police to open a locked door.

"A team of seven firemen were dispatched to the location from Bagan Jermal fire station and arrived at 12.01am," said the spokesman.

When the team arrived, the police informed them that there was a 79-year-old victim trapped inside the house. The operation commander then instructed personnel to break the padlock using a bolt cutter.

“Once they gained entry, the victim was found dead. The medical personnel at the scene confirmed this after an examination was conducted," he said.

The body of the victim was handed over to the police for further action.
