'Winds of change' give Gagasan Rakyat an advantage in Lamag, says VP

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah is pulling out all the stops to wrest the Lamag state seat from Sabah Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin.

Gagasan Rakyat vice-president Datuk Masiung Banah said Lamag constituents want local parties to represent them.

"There is a political wind in Sabah, especially in Lamag, in favour of local parties," Masiung said when opening the Gagasan Rakyat office for the Lamag division headed by Abu Bakar Kapar.

Masiung, who is Kuamut assemblyman, said that the Lamag division was working hard to capture the seat from Bung, who is the Sabah Umno chairman and Kinabatangan MP.

"Gagasan Rakyat will ensure GRS will field the best candidate to take on Bung in the coming state election," Masiung said, advising party workers to work as a family to win the hearts of voters.

Lamag, a newly created state seat, was won by Bung on a Barisan ticket in the 2020 Sabah Polls when Barisan teamed up with Bersatu to topple the Parti Warisan and Pakatan Harapan state government.

The Lamag, Kuamut and Sukau state seats are part of the Kinabatangan parliamentary seat.
