Cop killed during patrol

KUALA LUMPUR: A 24-year-old traffic police officer was killed in an accident during a crime prevention patrol.

L/Kpl Muhammad Amirul Aiman Muhammad Othman died at the scene after he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed along a curved stretch of Jalan Kuching at 4.30am yesterday.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) chief Asst Comm Zamzuri Mohd Isa said initial investigations revealed that the motorcycle skidded at a bend before hitting a guardrail and plunging into an embankment.

“Another policeman, who was behind him on a separate motorcycle, also lost control and suffered minor injuries. He is receiving outpatient treatment at Hospital Kuala Lumpur,” he added.
