MetMalaysia issues thunderstorm, heavy rain warning for four states


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in four states until 4pm on Saturday (June 28).

In Perak, the affected districts include Kerian, Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, and Muallim.

In Pahang, Rompin is on alert for severe weather.

Selangor regions including Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, and Hulu Selangor are expected to experience adverse conditions.

The entire state of Johor is also under the warning.

MetMalaysia issues these warnings when thunderstorms with a rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour are imminent or expected to persist for more than an hour.

These are short-term warnings, valid for no more than six hours from issuance.
