KUALA LUMPUR: Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds are expected across several regions in Malaysia, with warnings in effect until 6pm on Thursday (June 26), said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) in a post on Facebook.
In Kedah, Langkawi is on alert for severe weather.
In Perak, the districts of Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang, and Muallim are expected to be affected.
Terengganu's Besut is also under the warning.
In Pahang, areas such as Bentong, Bera, Pekan, and Rompin are forecasted to experience adverse conditions.
Selangor's Sabak Bernam is included in the alert.
In Negeri Sembilan, districts including Jelebu, Seremban, Kuala Pilah, Rembau, Jempol, and Tampin are on alert.
In Johor, Segamat and Mersing are expected to be affected.
In Sabah, the Interior and West Coast regions, along with Tawau (Kunak and Lahad Datu), Sandakan (Kinabatangan), and Kudat, are expected to face severe weather.
Labuan is also included in the thunderstorm warning.
MetMalaysia issues these warnings when thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour are imminent or expected to persist for more than an hour.
These are short-term warnings, valid for no more than six hours from issuance.
