Cook found dead in Sg Putat flat


MELAKA: A 39-year-old cook has been found dead in a flat unit in Sungai Putat here.

Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit said the incident is believed to have occurred at around 4.40pm on Monday (June 23) after the deceased argued with his girlfriend.

"At about 4.30pm on Monday (June 23), the deceased and his 31-year-old girlfriend got into an argument.

"The woman then went into her room and came out around 30 minutes later, only to find the man unresponsive," he said on Tuesday (June 24).

ACP Christopher Patit said the woman immediately sought help from neighbours and contacted the police.

He said policemen dispatched to the scene found the deceased on the floor of the master bedroom.

He said the woman said that the deceased was emotionally distressed after she told him she wanted to call off their engagement.

He added that the deceased had been living at the unit with his girlfriend and her two older brothers since March.

The case has been classified as sudden death pending an autopsy report.
