PUTRAJAYA: Political analyst James Chai has completed giving his statement at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters here to assist in investigations linked to a government-backed RM1.11bil semiconductor project.

The former aide to former Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli was seen leaving the headquarters at about 6.30pm on Tuesday (April 28) after more than eight hours of questioning. He had arrived at 10am, dressed in a white shirt.

Chai will be turning to the commision's headquarters on Wednesday morning (April 29) to continue giving his statement, said Azam.

Previously, MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed that Chai's return had been communicated to the commission.

The MACC had earlier said it was tracking Chai in connection with the investigation.

Meanwhile, law firm Kesavan Advocates and Solicitors, which represents Chai, said arrangements for his return were made after obtaining approval from his employer in London.

The firm said it has been in communication with the MACC to facilitate the investigation process.
