KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a Level 1 hot weather status or alert category for 16 areas in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak.
In a statement on Tuesday (April 28), it said the affected areas in the Peninsula include the entire state of Perlis and Kedah (Kubang Pasu, Pendang, Kota Setar and Padang Terap).
The same warning was also issued for Perak (Kuala Kangsar); Kelantan (Jeli, Pasir Mas, Tanah Merah and Machang); Selangor (Gombak and Sepang); and the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur
Also on the list are two areas in Sabah, namely Beaufort and Telupid, as well as Limbang in Sarawak.
A Level 1 or alert status is issued when the daily maximum temperature reaches 35 to 37 degrees Celsius for at least three consecutive days.
