KUALA LUMPUR: Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is scheduled to undergo a medical procedure next week to remove plaque detected near a blood vessel, according to his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.
In a Facebook post on Saturday (July 18), Rosmah expressed deep appreciation for the outpouring of support and urged the public to keep her husband in their prayers, reported Awani.
"At this time, I ask that everyone continue to pray that all the matters and procedures he will undergo will be facilitated, run smoothly, and that he will be blessed with health and strength," she wrote.
The announcement comes after reports emerged on July 14 that the 73-year-old had experienced heart-related complications.
Najib is currently serving his prison sentence following a conviction involving SRC International. In February 2024, the Pardons Board halved his initial 12-year jail term to six years and reduced his RM210mil fine to RM50mil. Last April, Najib withdrew a legal application seeking to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest.
