KOTA KINABALU: Two Sabah assemblymen are among three people awaiting the Special Corruption Court's decision on a charge date in the mining prospecting case.
Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki (pic) said the graft buster is in the final procedural stages of getting the arrest and charge warrants, as well as the court dates.
“Here in Sabah, there are specific dates for the Corruption Court to convene, so we are waiting for it to arrange the time and date,” he told a press conference here on Wednesday (June 18).
Earlier, Azam had officiated at the International Conference on Technology, Management and Sustainability (ICTMS 2025) organised by the Accounting Research Institute (ARI), UiTM, Kota Kinabalu.

Azam said MACC expects the dates to be set within a week or so, and the charges may be filed as early as the end of this month.
Asked about the authenticity of the so-called "whistleblower videos" shared on the mining prospect scandal allegations, he said he could no longer comment as it could be prejudicial to the case now.
“We are not only relying on (audiovisual sources). We also (have) statements given by individuals throughout this investigation,” he added.
He said as of now, three people have been identified to be charged.
“But in the future, we don’t know. It depends on the DPP," he added.
The video recordings that went viral were of conversations linked to alleged graft involving the issue of mineral mining licences.
