Private football coach claims trial to sexual assault charges

KOTA TINGGI: A private football coach has claimed trial at the Sessions Court to four charges of committing physical sexual assault against two schoolgirls.

Meor Azizi Zolkfle, 33, pleaded not guilty after all four charges were read to him before Sessions Judge Haydar Faridzal Abu Hasan on Tuesday (June 17).

According to the charge sheets, the first two offences involved a 13-year-old victim at a stadium in Bandar Penawar at around 9.20pm on May 2.

In the third and fourth charges, Meor Azizi is accused of assaulting another 13-year-old girl at a sports complex in Felda Sening and later in front of a school field in Felda Adela, on November 14, 2024, and again on May 2 this year.

He is charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, read together with Section 16(1) of the same Act.

The offence carries a maximum jail sentence of up to 20 years and whipping upon conviction.

Haydar Faridzal set bail at RM20,000 and ordered the accused to report to the nearest police station once a month and refrain from contacting the victims or any prosecution witnesses until the case concludes.

He also set July 17 for the next mention, pending the submission of documents and appointment of counsel.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Foo Fang Leong prosecuted the case, while the accused was not represented.
