Firearms licence of man who pistol whipped woman to be revoked, say Penang cops

GEORGE TOWN: The firearms licence of a 41-year-old man who was nabbed for allegedly injuring a woman with a pistol grip will be revoked, say police.

Penang police chief Comm Datuk Hamzah Ahmad said the police are now in the process of revoking the suspect's firearms licence after a road rage incident that left a woman with serious injuries.

It was reported that the suspect was detained after turning himself in at the George Town police headquarters at around 9.30am on Tuesday (June 3).

The police received a report from a 28-year-old woman at 5.56pm on June 1, claiming she was assaulted with what was believed to be a pistol grip near Jalan Kelawai at 2.20am the same day.

A pistol, a magazine and a licence book for possessing weapons/bullets were also seized from the suspect.

Investigation found that the incident is believed to have been triggered by a road dispute while both the complainant and the suspect were driving through the area.

As a result of the altercation, the complainant sustained serious injuries to her nose and eye.

It is learnt that the suspect was released on police bail on June 4.

The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code Section 34 of Arms Act 1960.
