Division meetings are platforms for MCA members to express their views openly, says Dr Wee

JOHOR BARU: The ongoing MCA division meetings are platforms for party members to openly express their views, says its president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

"We have gone through many divisions, and they each have different slogans and opinions.

"That is okay because our party is a democratic one, and we allow everyone to express their views.

"To me, this is a natural process. It is an organic expression from the grassroots," he said at a press conference after officiating the Pasir Gudang MCA annual general meeting here.

Dr Wee commented on the 'No DAP' chant exclaimed by party members during the meeting.

"That is the voice of the Pasir Gudang MCA members. The divisional meetings are being held throughout the month of June. So, we have about 15 more days.

"Let them speak, because these meetings are precisely where discussions should take place.

"This is their opportunity to contribute, and we should just listen to what they have to say. There is no need to over analyse or create unnecessary theories," he said.

Dr Wee added that it was normal for members to have different ideas and proposals, comparing the situation to differing opinions among professionals.

"It's okay to agree or disagree, just like how two doctors might have different views. But after discussion, a consensus can often be reached, and we respect that process.

"What matters is that communication is happening and that everyone is contributing to the party’s growth," he said.
