Two hurt after lorries collide on NSE near Sungai Petani


SUNGAI PETANI: A lorry driver and a Myanmar worker were injured in an accident involving a trailer lorry and a seven-tonne lorry at KM106.8 of the North-South Expressway (southbound) near the Sungai Petani Utara exit near here on Monday (June 10) night.

Guar Chempedak fire station chief chief Mohd Happyzam Abd Rasid said five people were involved in the accident but three of them were unhurt.

"We received an emergency call at 8.51pm and rushed to the scene.

"The driver of the seven-tonne lorry and the worker, both in their 30s, suffered minor injuries.

"The 49-year-old trailer lorry driver and two Myanmar nationals, also in their 30s, were reported to be safe," he said in a statement on Tuesday (June 10).

According to him, all five victims were conscious after the accident and had left their respective vehicles before the rescue team arrived.
